Zerella Fresh is a leading agricultural enterprise supplying Australia's leading supermarket chains and exporting produce globally. We are currently seeking an experienced Water Management Specialist to join our team on a full-time permanent basis at our Virginia site in South Australia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems and programs to ensure effective and efficient water delivery to all crop areas and maximize crop production. Key responsibilities include providing support to the Farm Manager in determining hydraulic parameters, implementing irrigation-related programs, and identifying and managing pumping systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Farm Manager in determining hydraulic parameters for irrigation systems and implementing irrigation-related programs and schedules.
2. Identify and manage pumping systems, interpret and apply irrigation designs, and support irrigation system installation and maintenance.
3. Supervise the installation of drainage and water harvesting systems.
4. Develop and implement irrigation equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installs to reduce risk and improve capability, quality, and reliability while lowering operational costs.
5. Install and program variable rate irrigation (VRI) systems to match application rates.
6. Maintain accurate records on water, fertilizer, and chemical applications and provide to management as requested.
7. Interpret schematics and electrical configurations on centre pivots, diagnose faults, and perform operational maintenance on irrigation pumps and equipment as required.
8. Monitor field operations to identify problems with water, fertilizer, or chemical application.
9. Procure parts and equipment as required and in accordance with company procedure.
Requirements:
* A Certificate II level qualification in irrigation management or relevant field OR equivalent relevant work experience.
* A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
* Experience in irrigation operations/farm management.
* Basic mechanical knowledge and experience working with large scale agricultural machinery.
* Unrestricted Class C Driver's License (essential).
* Chemical User Certificate Accreditation (essential).
