Waste Management Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and resourceful individual to join our team as a Waste Technical Officer. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring we meet all legislative, contractual, and customer service obligations while delivering top-notch commercial and domestic kerbside collection, recycling, and verge side collections.
\
Your expertise will be crucial in achieving our operational and strategic objectives, leaving a lasting impression on the community we serve.
\
Key Responsibilities:
\
1. Provide specialist technical advice and support on waste management, resource recovery, circular economy, and other related matters.
\
2. Develop and implement waste minimisation and resource recovery initiatives.
\
3. Drive business development of the commercial business unit, including implementation of FOGO commercial service.
\
4. Identify and recommend strategies to enhance the growth and development of commercial services.
\
5. Support the implementation of proposed pre-booked verge collection service.
\
6. Assist with updating the City's Waste Plan in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
\
7. In conjunction with the City's Waste Education Officer, assist with developing and coordinating waste education programs.
\
\
Requirements:
\
8. Tertiary qualification in Business or equivalent degree-level qualification, and/or significant relevant industry experience.
\
9. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.
\
10. Provision of operational, technical, environmental, and compliance expertise/support in all aspects of waste management service provision.
\
11. Demonstrated ability to take initiative to solve complex problems using research, analysis, and innovation.
\
12. Excellent customer service skills, including written, telephone, and personal communication.
\
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
\
14. Current C Class Drivers License.
\
15. White Card or ability to obtain.
\
16. Qualification in asset management.
\
17. Qualification in project management.
\
18. Sound computing knowledge and skills in Word and spreadsheet programmes, preferably MS suite and Adobe suite.
\
19. Effective time management and organisational skills, with ability to prioritise workload.
\
