Deliver high‐level technical investigations, design reviews, systems development, audits, and advisory services related to chemical engineering aspects of water and wastewater infrastructure. Lead cross‐functional teams across projects and operations, ensuring safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and robust corrosion/materials management. ABN or PAYG arrangements supported.
What you'll do
* Lead and deliver high‐level technical investigations, reviews, and advisory services related to chemical engineering aspects of civil infrastructure projects and water/wastewater assets (treatment works, pipelines, pumps, sampling‐monitoring systems, and associated instrumentation).
* Design, review, and optimise chemical processes and materials interfaces across assets; focus areas include corrosion prevention, protective coatings, chemical dosing and disinfection chemistries, and compatibility with pipelines and treatment processes.
* Develop and refine systems development plans, asset management strategies, and lifecycle cost plans for chemical assets, corrosion control programs, and materials management.
* Plan, conduct, and coordinate audits and compliance reviews against water/wastewater chemical standards; identify remediation actions and drive implementation.
* Provide expert advisory support to project teams, operations, and senior management; contribute to technical governance and design assurance processes.
* Engage with regulators, contractors, and stakeholders; ensure conformance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
* Contribute to budget development, schedule management, and risk mitigation for chemical engineering activities.
* Champion Safety in Design (SiD) integration, particularly for chemical‐related risks (corrosion, chemical handling, storage, and dosing systems).
* Travel to sites and operate across multiple locations as required.
What you'll bring
* Degree in Chemical Engineering; Chartered status (or equivalent) highly preferred.
* Years of chemical/materials engineering experience in the infrastructure sector or closely related industrial settings, with a focus on water/wastewater chemistry, corrosion control, and materials protection.
* Strong background in chemical process design, corrosion modelling, dosing systems, disinfection chemistries, materials selection, and associated instrumentation and controls.
* Proficiency with design and engineering tools, hydraulic/hydraulic‐chemical modelling software, corrosion analysis tools, and related software; strong analytical and problem‐solving abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical reports and present findings to diverse audiences.
* Collaborative mindset with stakeholder management and the ability to lead cross‐functional teams; ability to manage priorities and deliver to deadlines.
* Willingness to travel to sites and work across multiple locations as required.
* Demonstrated ability to work within a Safety in Design (SiD) framework and to integrate safety considerations into design and delivery.
Desirable
* Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Australia or equivalent.
