The Compliance Manager – AML/CTF is responsible for managing Amused Group's AML/CTF compliance function and acting as the appointed AML/CTF Compliance Officer under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth).
The role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating day-to-day AML/CTF compliance, supporting the effective operation of Amused Group's AML/CTF Program, and assisting the business to identify, manage and mitigate money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing risks.
A key focus of the role will be leading and embedding Amused Group's AML/CTF Uplift Plan, including policy updates, system and control improvements, staff training, assurance activities, issue remediation and regulatory change implementation.
The role reports to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and will work closely with Financial Crime Operations, Risk, Analytics, Technology, Customer Operations and other business stakeholders. The role will also support broader regulatory compliance activities as required.
Salary range: $120,000 - $160,000 per year (depending on experience)
Key accountabilities
AML/CTF Compliance Officer responsibilities
* Act as Amused Group's appointed AML/CTF Compliance Officer (AMLCO).
* Oversee and coordinate day-to-day compliance with Amused Group's AML/CTF obligations.
* Support the effective operation of Amused Group's AML/CTF Program, including policies, procedures, systems and controls.
* Monitor AML/CTF legislative developments, AUSTRAC guidance and enforcement trends, and advise the CLO and relevant business stakeholders on emerging obligations and risks.
* Coordinate AML/CTF reporting to the CLO, Executive Leadership Team and, where required, the Board or governing body.
AML uplift and regulatory change
* Lead the delivery and embedding of Amused Group's AML/CTF Uplift Plan, ensuring program enhancements and system improvements are effectively implemented across the business.
* Manage AML/CTF uplift actions, remediation items and regulatory change deliverables, ensuring they are clearly owned, tracked, evidenced and completed.
* Lead or contribute to high-profile or business-critical projects involving AML/CTF, financial crime, compliance, risk or regulatory change.
* Partner with Technology, Analytics and Financial Crime Operations to improve AML/CTF systems, controls, alerting, monitoring, reporting and data quality.
AML/CTF operations and reporting
* Oversee AUSTRAC reporting processes, including Suspicious Matter Reports and annual compliance reporting.
* Provide guidance on complex AML/CTF matters, including customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, source of funds/source of wealth, suspicious matter escalation and ongoing customer monitoring.
* Support Financial Crime Operations to ensure alerts, cases and escalations are managed consistently, appropriately and within required timeframes.
Assurance, incidents and regulatory engagement
* Establish and maintain effective compliance assurance and quality-testing processes, including sample reviews, control testing, issue tracking and remediation monitoring.
* Escalate material compliance breaches, incidents and control weaknesses promptly, ensuring remediation actions are defined, owned and completed.
* Coordinate the periodic independent review of the AML/CTF Program and support internal audits, external reviews and regulatory engagement activities.
* Manage AML/CTF-related findings, recommendations and issues through to resolution.
Leadership and stakeholder management
* Manage, support and develop AML/CTF compliance team members, including AML Analyst roles.
* Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and promote a practical, risk-based compliance culture.
* Provide AML/CTF training, guidance and support to relevant business teams.
Key selection criteria
Knowledge and skills
* Minimum 5 years' experience in AML/CTF, financial crime, risk or compliance, including significant practical experience in AML/CTF compliance.
* Strong working knowledge of the AML/CTF Act, AML/CTF Rules and AUSTRAC guidance.
* Experience supporting, maintaining or improving AML/CTF programs, policies, procedures, controls, investigations or reporting processes.
* Experience delivering high-profile or business-critical projects, ideally within AML/CTF, financial crime, risk, compliance or regulatory change.
* Understanding of customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious matter reporting and financial crime risk indicators.
* Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business processes.
* Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare compliance reports, issue summaries, governance papers and business-facing guidance.
* Familiarity with wagering and gambling regulatory frameworks is desirable.
