Role
The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is seeking to establish a pool of Design and Technology teachers for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during Term 4, **** and up to the end of Term 2, ****. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
SIDE is currently delivering an exciting program of Design and Technology woodwork and technologies to remote and regional schools using digital web-conferencing technology. Students participate in lessons in the workshop at their school with locally based supervisors and interact with the SIDE teacher via a video link.
We are expanding our team of Design & Technology teachers to deliver the courses to additional schools.
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging Design and Technology courses in the Woodwork and Automotive context.
Make use of both synchronous (Webex) and asynchronous (Moodle) platforms of instruction.
Conduct risk assessments and set up workshops to meet stringent Work Health and Safety standards.
Maintain and troubleshoot workshop equipment.
Occasional travel around Western Australia for student contact and workshop safety and maintenance purposes, including overnight stays.
Collaborate with team members and adapt teaching approaches to ensure ongoing program growth and success for students.
Qualifications
Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
Have experience delivering engaging Design and Technology courses in the Woodwork and Automotive context. Electronics, Jewellery and Leather skills are desirable.
Have a high level of Information and Computer Technology (ICT) literacy.
Have a Western Australian driver's licence.
Have a Western Australian driver's licence.
