We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of complex asset improvement projects. This role ensures projects meet quality, financial and output targets in accordance with project management processes, governance, risk management, stakeholder communications and reporting.
The Senior Project Manager will also manage the engagement with internal stakeholders and external providers to achieve seamless, best-value project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of major upgrade projects, managing schedules and resource allocations, evaluating technical impacts of project, and recommending strategies.
* Oversee design, tendering, and delivery phases, ensuring reports, design plans and documentation meet standards, budgets and timelines.
* Prepare and present management reports on allocated project issues, including financial performance, forecasts, schedules and program impacts.
* Provide specialist advice to senior management on project delivery and procurement strategies.
* Prepare and deliver high-quality briefing papers for Executives, including project procurement and financial management under delegated authority.
* Lead and coordinate negotiations with subcontractors, clients, and teams to ensure planning, technical reviews, constructability, and innovation are incorporated in project delivery.
* Provide expert advice and support to other teams on project delivery and governance matters, as requested.
* Take accountability for project delivery, defect management, project closeout and handover to clients.
* Optimise project management practices and principles in line with processes and key areas of project management body of knowledge (PMBOK) or similar.
* Comply with company OHS, QMS, and EMS policies and procedures.
About You
* Qualification in Project Management.
* Qualification in Engineering (highly desirable).
* Corporate Membership, or ability to obtain within 6 months of appointment, with the Institute of Engineers Australia or the Australian Institute of Project Management.
* 15+ years' experience in managing the delivery of water infrastructure projects, of a complex and multi-disciplinary engineering nature, valued at $10m – $50m +.
* Expert knowledge and experience in water infrastructure, valves, gates, and treatment systems.
* Expert knowledge and experience in contract management, including Australian standards, general conditions for risk management, risk models, permits, approvals, contract law, QA, environmental management, and WHS management.
* Demonstrated high-level achievement in leading and managing risk in project delivery.
* Demonstrated ability to add value through design, technical specifications, tender negotiation, or fabrication phases for delivering financial savings, risk reduction or schedule benefits.
* Advanced and applied knowledge of PMBOK within complex, multi-year infrastructure projects.
* Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise, influence, and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong written communication and computer literacy skills, including project scheduling.
* Experience in coaching and mentoring emerging project managers.
