Construction Engineer – Sunshine Coast Council
Base pay range: A$95,000.00/yr – A$124,000.00/yr. Total Remuneration Package: A$108K – $124K. Vacancy No: 6425. Permanent – Full-time.
About the Role
Council's Transport Network Operations branch is responsible for road and infrastructure assets on the Sunshine Coast. We are seeking an expert in civil construction to contribute toward the delivery of Council's civil assets. With population growth expected to reach 500,000 in the next 15 years, delivering safe and high quality civil assets is imperative. You will coordinate, manage and deliver capital works through internal and external service providers, from design hand over to completion, and provide comprehensive forward planning and project management services to project clients and customers.
Responsibilities
* Leading construction teams to deliver projects that are cost-effective, safe and high-quality.
* Prepare and review construction programs for timely delivery of civil construction works.
* Liaise with Supervisors and Field Leaders to ensure efficient allocation of plant and labour resources.
* Demonstrate leadership in employee development, workplace health and safety, risk management, continuous improvement and quality systems.
* Undertake audits throughout projects including safety, quality and environment.
* Cost tracking and management of invoices/subcontractor progress claims.
* Prepare and submit End of Month (EOM) reports.
* Maintain and update project registers.
* Conduct toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and site inductions.
* Perform regular site inspections to ensure quality, safety and environmental requirements.
* Review and assess Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
* Prepare project-specific management plans.
* Manage purchase orders, plant and material bookings.
About you
You hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or related discipline), with over 2 years of post-graduate site experience. You will have relevant experience in the delivery of civil infrastructure and maintenance works, with demonstrated ability to lead work crews and contractors and promote a strong safety-conscious culture. You will have proven ability to manage construction projects and programs using developed problem-solving skills. You will have knowledge of WH&S and Environmental legislation, Advisory Standards and Industry Codes of Practice, Quality Systems, risk management, assessment and control strategies.
