To support increased payroll and administrative responsibilities, we are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our Finance team in West Perth.
The Role
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will process payroll across corporate and site operations, including casual and rostered site staff. This role will also support payroll-related reporting, compliance, and reconciliation tasks.
The role may also involve supporting improvements to payroll processes, including assisting with the introduction of a new payroll system.
Key Responsibilities
General Duties
* End-to-end processing of monthly payroll currently in Xero
* Manage and validate timesheets, allowances, and variable site-based hours
* Processing superannuation, PAYG, and payroll tax obligations
* Management of leave accruals and payroll reconciliations
* Ensuring compliance with relevant Awards, employment contracts, and statutory requirements
* Respond to payroll-related queries from corporate and site employees
* Prepare payroll reports and support month-end processes
* Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with audits
* Provide ad hoc administrative support to HR Manager & Administrator
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Demonstrated payroll experience, including casual/rostered workforces
* Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation
* High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
* Ability to handle confidential information
* Experience using Xero (preferred) or similar payroll/accounting systems
* Strong Excel skills
Preferred
* Experience within mining, resources, or similar industries
* Understanding of Award interpretation
* Certificate IV in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Payroll Administration
