You’re a software engineer at heart, but you’ve gone down the SRE path because you care about how systems run, not just that they do.
Maybe you’re stuck somewhere bureaucratic, fighting fires in silos, or getting blank stares every time you suggest load testing.
If you’re craving a team where SRE is respected, embedded, and already effective, you might like this one.
SRE is already deeply embedded into the culture at this 150-person scale-up. Not bolted on, not an afterthought, and definitely not a glorified on-call rota.
The outgoing SRE spent the last 2 years building an established function. His efforts have been rewarded and he’s been promoted into a broader infra role.
So we’re looking for someone to take the reins, own what's already working, and push it even further.
You'll join a platform team that ships over 30 features to prod a week. The observability is in place, the incident culture is blameless, and the engineers are engaged.
They want to learn more about testing, scalability, and resilience. You won’t have to sell them on why SRE matters.
Your focus?
Take them from “solid” to “scalable.” Own the testing guild. Level up load testing and chaos engineering. Coach developers on performance bottlenecks and test automation.
Help the team become more self-sufficient, while still driving high-impact initiatives around reliability and disaster recovery.
There’s no legacy cruft slowing you down, no pointless meetings, and no one pushing back on good ideas.
The CTO and Head of Engineering have laid strong foundations for modern engineering best practices and there’s serious buy-in for SRE as a key strategic function, not just a firefighting team.
And it’s not just lip service. If you’re on call (which doesn’t happen often), you’ll get time in lieu or a financial bonus.
The stack is modern, the team is sharp, and you’ll be working on a genuinely world-class platform that’s already partnered with IBM, and used by defence, finance, and research teams around the globe.
Who are you?
This role would suit someone with a software background (Python and/or Go preferred) who’s passionate about resilience.
Maybe you're already in an SRE role. Maybe you're a platform or backend engineer who thrives at the intersection of reliability and scale.
