About Us

DDWA is a not‑for‑profit organisation that has been proudly supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and the community for over 40 years. We are passionate about inclusion, advocacy, and empowering people to live their best lives.

We are seeking a values-driven and highly skilled Communications Coordinator to lead our communications efforts, grow our public profile, and bring our stories, events, and impact to life across all channels.


The Role

* Work with the DDWA team to strengthen our brand identity and ensure consistent, values‑aligned messaging across all communication channels.
* Assist in developing and delivering a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy.
* Create engaging content for our member e‑newsletters, social media, website, and other digital platforms.
* Plan, schedule, and manage social media content to maintain a vibrant and engaging online presence.
* Work closely with staff to promote information, resources, and services to the wider community.
* Support the development of media packs, promotional materials, and corporate resources.
* Assist in planning, promoting, and evaluating in‑person and virtual events.
* Curate and manage a library of media assets, including photography, video, and podcasts, as needed.
* Monitor and evaluate communication and marketing activities using analytics to inform improvements.


About You

You're a natural storyteller who is available to start with us ASAP.

With a minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in communications, digital marketing, or content‑focused roles.

You are a flexible team player who is happy to pitch‑in to support our diverse work.

Your lived experience of disability or experience supporting people with disability and their families will be highly regarded.

You are happy to work from our West Perth office 3 days a week in a small high‑energy team environment.


Essential Skills & Experience for the role

* Tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, or related fields.
* Excellent writing, editing, and content creation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Proficiency in MS Office 365 and willingness to learn other software applications as required.
* Experience with WordPress and website content management.
* Experience creating multimedia content, including photography, video, and podcasts.
* Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive communication, including Easy Read.
* Experience using analytics to measure campaign effectiveness.
* Graphic design skills or experience with design tools and templates.
