We are helping a leading engineering organisation search for a talented
FPGA / Embedded Systems Engineer
to join their team. This is a hands on, technically challenging role working on high performance digital systems, combining FPGA, ARM based embedded software, and RF/digital signal processing technologies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and verify FPGA-based systems for advanced electronic applications.
* Develop embedded software and firmware for ARM processors integrated with FPGA solutions.
* Apply knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) and RF principles in FPGA designs.
* Simulate, prototype, and test FPGA designs using industry-standard tools.
* Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
* Troubleshoot and optimise FPGA and embedded system performance.
* Produce clear technical documentation, design specifications, and test procedures.
* Contribute to engineering best practices, process improvements, and innovation initiatives.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Strong FPGA development experience (VHDL or Verilog) with a solid understanding of digital design principles.
* Hands-on experience with embedded ARM-based systems and integration with FPGAs.
* Familiarity with digital signal processing (DSP) and radio frequency (RF) concepts.
* Experience with Matlab or other simulation tools is highly desirable.
* Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a methodical approach.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in technical teams.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to document work clearly.
Desirable:
* Embedded C/C++ development experience for ARM processors.
* FPGA design verification and testing experience.
* Knowledge of communication systems and hardware/software co-design.
* Familiarity with Agile development practices.
