Overview

PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold producer in Laos, with pre-development and exploration assets in Laos, Chile and Papua New Guinea (PNG). The Company is focused on a sustainable business model associated with the production and sale of copper and gold, delivery of production goals and growth.

Phu Bia Mining's producing assets are the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and the Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation, both located in the Company's 1,260 square-kilometre. The company has a Mineral Exploration and Production Agreement (MEPA) with the Government of Laos which regulated exploration, development and mining activities within the Contract Area, and sets out the Company's tax and royalty obligations.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced MTS Metallurgy Superintendent to join our team, based in the Lao Capital, Vientiane. This role is a residential position working on a 5/2 roster from the Phu Bia Mining Office, with periodic travel to the site operations and potential overseas travel. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Vientiane for the role.

Reporting to the Principal Metallurgist, the role will lead the development of:

Growth Projects – define GeoMetallurgical testwork plans, to support Engineering Design with process flowsheet development through various stage gates from Concept to Feasibility Studies. This encompasses Budgeting, Scheduling and Motivation for each Study Phase. Financial Evaluation (NPV, IRR). Identification, evaluation and mitigation of risk via a formalized Risk Register

Future Ore – update and validate LOM metallurgical domain / stage recovery equations, throughput and cost models, for mineral processing at existing operations. This encompasses coordination of ore sampling requirements with Geology for onsite laboratory recovery testwork. Use of minitab statistical software to develop recovery models based on assays displaying the most significant impact on actual recovery

Technical Plant Support – when requested, engage with operational personnel to assist in resolving identified challenges

Key Responsibilities

* Manage test work budgets and schedules to ensure that variations are well documented and approved prior to engagement.
* Developing test work programs for internal and external metallurgical testing using in house or external engineering consultancies.
* Develop and present detailed submissions for all mineral processing projects.
* Collate data, supervise test work and develop metallurgical testing programs (including mineralogy) of near mine, exploration and mineral resource-defined projects.
* Provide technical reports on the data obtained, assumptions used, concerns and recommendations. These reports will be used in the studies.
* Through consultation with engineering houses, manage process plant design reviews including process design criteria, mass and energy balance, flowsheet, plant layout, and equipment selection for existing PBM processing plant facilities.
* Compliance with company Geometallurgy Standard requirements.
* Provide feedback on potential new acquisitions or PBM external processing facilities on processing plant performance with support from on-site personnel.
* Keep up to date with new and improved processing extractive technologies in the minerals industry. Investigate new technologies and processes which support improved metal recovery.
* Develop Processing operating and capital cost models for various scenarios and options for open pit and underground projects for Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai Process Plants.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who have:

* Tertiary Qualifications in Metallurgy.
* A minimum of 10 years' post graduate experience in metalliferous processing plants
* Extensive Gold and polymetallic flotation experience is essential
* Greenfields / Brownfields projects above $50 million
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
* Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines
* Proven high-level planning and prioritization skills
* Strong analytical skills with a systematic and logic driven approach
* Continuous improvement and innovation oriented
* Advanced presentation and technical reporting skills
