Job Description About the Role Global Engineering & Construction is seeking an experienced HRIS & Payroll Manager to lead the delivery of accurate, compliant and efficient payroll services across a diverse national workforce. Based in Brisbane, this is a leadership role that combines hands-on payroll expertise with HRIS ownership, governance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Finance, People & Culture, IT and Operations, you’ll drive payroll excellence, optimise systems and processes, and ensure the business remains compliant with complex industrial and legislative requirements. With purpose, respect and a driven mindset, you’ll contribute by: Lead the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, compliantly and on time across multiple entities and locations. Manage payroll compliance, including awards, enterprise agreements, Fair Work legislation, STP, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, long service leave and portable long service leave obligations. Own and administer HRIS and payroll platforms, including system configuration, upgrades, integrations, pay rule maintenance, testing, and data integrity. Partner with Finance, People & Culture, IT, and Operations to improve payroll processes, reporting, governance and workforce data management. Lead, coach, and develop the Payroll Team while fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy and continuous improvement. Drive payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, and compliance frameworks to identify and mitigate payroll-related risks across the business. Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role: Significant payroll leadership experience within a multi-site, multi-state environment, ideally within construction, engineering, resources, or project-based industries. Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, payroll tax, superannuation, STP, and employment compliance requirements. Experience managing payroll and HRIS platforms, with exposure to systems such as Employment Hero, KeyPay, ELMO, Xero or similar. Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and build strong working relationships across Finance, P&C, IT, and Operations. Highly developed analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Advanced Excel skills and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities for automation, integration, and process optimisation. Why Global Group?
