About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Automation Tester to join our team on a contract basis. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely within Victoria while leading the development and execution of enterprise-grade test automation frameworks across UI, API, and backend systems. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of cloud-native applications deployed in AWS environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for UI, API, and backend systems.
* Define and continuously improve test strategies covering unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, security, and resiliency testing.
* Perform end-to-end validation of applications in AWS, ensuring correct behaviour across integrated cloud services.
* Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, balancing fast feedback with comprehensive coverage.
* Execute load and performance testing to validate scalability, stability, and autoscaling behaviour.
* Conduct and support security testing, ensuring alignment with secure SDLC practices.
* Identify quality risks early, analyse failures using logs and metrics, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.
* Ensure testing practices meet regulatory, compliance, and audit requirements, including documentation and evidence collection.
* Collaborate with DevOps teams to provision and manage test environments using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/Terraform).
* Mentor junior test engineers and provide technical leadership in test automation and quality strategy.
Required Qualifications:
* Extensive experience as a Senior tester.
* Strong hands-on experience with AWS in enterprise or production environments.
* Deep understanding of cloud-native and distributed system architectures.
* Proven experience with Playwright and Selenium, and strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and Java.
* Experience with API and backend testing for distributed systems.
* Hands-on experience integrating automated testing into enterprise CI/CD pipelines.
* Experience with load, performance, and security testing.
* Knowledge of regulated environments and compliance processes (financial services, healthcare, government, insurance).
* Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/Terraform).
* Strong SQL skills with MySQL and Oracle.
* Solid understanding of DevOps practices and modern SDLC workflows.
* Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
Nice to Have:
* Experience testing microservices and event-driven systems.
* Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOX).
* Experience with observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing).
* AWS certifications (Developer, DevOps Engineer, or Solutions Architect).
Location: Remote (must be based in Victoria)
Duration: Contract until June 2026, with likely extension
