Specialist Family Violence Counsellor
Permanent 16 hours per week
The role provides Specialist Family Violence counselling services from an intersectional feminist perspective, with an emphasis on safety and perpetrator accountability. This specialist role recognises the diversity of women and young people's lives and values these differences and similarities.
The role encompasses all aspects of MARAM risk assessment and safety planning; trauma and violence informed counselling; advocacy; and, onward referral for women and young people who are victim survivors of family violence. The role will offer secondary consultations and work from best practice principles that are evidence informed and provide client outcomes that increase safety, stability and long term recovery for women, children and young people who are victim survivors of family violence and are also culturally safe and gender sensitive.
What's required?
A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, welfare studies or other related area.
Demonstrated experience in working with women and children with complex needs in a confidential, flexible and responsive manner, including providing comprehensive MARAM risk assessment and safety planning.
Demonstrated ability to work with tight time schedules and provide flexible, culturally safe and inclusive therapeutic support.
Demonstrated understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, intersectionality and valuing lived experience.
Demonstrated experience of working positively and productively within a team and the integrated practice system.
Ability to work flexible hours as required.
Demonstrated experience with data and record keeping and IT systems.
Willingness to participate in further training and professional development.
Current Victorian Driver's License, Working with Children Check and clear National Policy History Check. Qualification and/or experience in administration, welfare or other relevant community services.
