Senior Product Developer
IDE Group is seeking a Senior Product Developer for the Connected Care Business Unit. This role reports directly to the Business Unit Director and involves leading mechanical and general product development and commercialisation activities to deliver commercially successful results for IDE and its clients.

The Role
You will use your knowledge to understand and support IDE in carrying out its Why by executing mechanical system development and other product development activities with a high level of technical excellence and minimal supervision. You will supervise, lead and develop team members on projects and collaborate with colleagues, clients and partners to realise project and company goals.
This role sits within the Connected Care Business Unit and you will report to the Business Unit Director.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and improve biomedical systems, medical devices, and instruments through all stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Apply biomedical engineering principles, regulatory standards, and quality management systems (ISO 13485) to ensure compliance and safety.
- Conduct technical research including material selection for biocompatibility, regulatory and market analysis, and IP evaluations relevant to medical technologies.
- Utilise 3D CAD modeling, engineering drawings, and prototyping (including 3D printing) to create functional medical device prototypes.
- Execute verification testing, user evaluations, and clinical stakeholder validation to optimise device performance and usability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions with clinical needs and health outcomes.
- Manage project timelines and communications to ensure R&D; objectives are met efficiently.
- Qualifications: degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering product development, with some experience in the medical device or regulated industries.
- Understanding of Medical Device Development processes and ISO 13485, or equivalent; knowledge of design controls, and regulatory practices.
- Familiarity with product development methodologies (design thinking, agile, etc.) and international standards (IEC 62366, ISO 14971, ISO 60601).
- Foundation in mechanical/mechatronics with CAD proficiency, prototyping, DFMA, materials knowledge, testing and technical writing.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience developing products at various stages of the development process as part of a cross-functional team.
- Experience directing and reviewing technical outputs in mechanical engineering.
- Experience leading design of product subsystems and teams through the development process.
- Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
