Job Title: Production Manager

A leading distributor of semi-finished engineering thermoplastics is seeking a dedicated and skilled production manager to oversee day-to-day operations, drive process improvements, and lead a team within a highly technical CNC machining environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional to join a well-established industry setting. As a production manager, you will be responsible for coordinating daily production activities, operating and supervising CNC equipment, estimating and quoting new parts, and implementing quality assurance checks.

Responsibilities:

* Oversee and coordinate daily production activities to ensure timely delivery of customer orders.
* Operate and supervise CNC equipment (routers, lathes, milling machines) for the machining of engineering thermoplastics.
* Estimating and Quoting new parts.
* Build up job and project costs based on material usage, machine time, labour, and tooling requirements.
* Establish and document efficient production processes and machining parameters.
* Implement and manage quality assurance checks to meet both internal standards and customer requirements.
* Lead, train, and mentor a team of machine operators and production staff.
* Collaborate with sales, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure production feasibility and scheduling.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in workflow, productivity, and machine utilisation.
* Maintain a safe, organised, and compliant workshop environment.

Requirements:

* Trade or technical qualifications in machining, manufacturing, programming, or mechanical engineering.
* At least 5 years of experience in a production or operations leadership position within a fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environment.
* Excellent leadership with a team-first approach, prioritising effective communication and strong working relationships.
* Strong proficiency in operating CNC machinery, including routers, lathes, and milling machines.
* Familiarity with engineering plastics advantageous.
* Solid experience in job costing, production planning, and working with ERP systems; experience with Microsoft ERP platforms preferred but not essential.
* Experience with CAD drawings and software.
* Demonstrated ability to implement and manage quality assurance processes and maintain accurate documentation.
* Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles advantageous.
