Together, ACCIONA Agua and TRILITY form the Joint Venture known as AdelaideAqua, commissioned to operate and maintain the Adelaide desalination plant for twenty years. The Adelaide desalination plant located in Lonsdale is one part of the South Australian Government’s “Water for Positive” plan to ensure sustainable water supplies for the future. Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrical / Instrumentation and Control Technician to join our team at the Adelaide Desalination Plant. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and longevity of the plant by carrying out both preventative and corrective maintenance on critical systems.
This is a hands-on position where you’ll apply your technical expertise to keep the plant operating at peak performance, respond to breakdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. You will also be part of an on-call roster, providing emergency support outside of standard working hours when required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure operability of plant systems in line with operational standards and maintenance plans.
- Provide timely breakdown and emergency response services to support plant operations.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including subcontractor coordination and supplier liaison.
- Diagnose and resolve faults on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems safely and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company requirements.
- Contribute to procedure reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support stock management, deliveries, and general site maintenance activities.
About you
- Trade Certificate (Electrical) with current valid A Class unrestricted electrical license
- Post-trade studies such as instrumentation, communications and control PLC and SCADA systems, VSD diagnostic, Profibus, and Ethernet desirable
- Proficient in operation, maintenance, diagnostics, programming and troubleshooting of electrical equipment, including VFD, motors, active filters, capacitors, HV switchgear, LV switchgear, protection relay and controllers, generators, general lighting and fixtures, Profibus, Ethernet, SCADA, Citect, PLC systems and water quality instrumentation.
- Experience in operation of water/ wastewater plants highly regarded
- Familiarity with maintenance
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- A high sense of ownership for the plant and its operations and ability to apply yourself to a broad range of tasks
- A proactive and safety-focused approach to maintenance and operations.
- Willingness to participate in out of hours work on occasional planned or unplanned basis
