**About the role**
This is a **permanent**, **full time**, position working **Monday to Friday**, **35 hours** per week. This position will be working from **Nowra Administration Building**,** **as part of a friendly and hard-working team committed to the safety of local properties registered on Council's Fire Safety Program.
The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
**Duties**
Reporting directly to the Lead - Certification, the focus of this position is to:
- To develop and coordinate implementation and operations of the fire safety audit program
- Assist in the administration of applicable Acts so as to achieve the best built environment, health, welfare and well-being of the whole community and to ensure achievement of the objectives of Council's Management Plan and Council's levels of customer service
- Undertake assessment of Construction Certificates and Complying Development Certificates as required and prepare detailed compliance reports.
- Undertake critical stage inspections in accordance with the level of accreditation.
- Provide for the protection, promotion, and improvement of the natural and built environment, and public amenity and safety in order to achieve the objectives of Council's Community Strategic Plan.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to the public on development related matters.
- To manage, assess and process development assessments which range in complexity and value.
**Skills & Experience**
In order to be successful in the position, you will possess:
Grade 9
- Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - Building Inspector.
- Undertaking or completed training to achieve a registered Class of building surveyor - Building Inspector with NSW Fair Trading
Grade 10
- Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings).
- Registered as a certifier to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings) with NSW Fair Trading.
Grade 11
- Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - restricted (all classes of buildings) or Class of building surveyor - unrestricted.
- Registered as a certifier at Class of building surveyor - restricted (all classes of buildings) or Class of building surveyor - unrestricted with NSW Fair Trading.

- Hold or be eligible to acquire a NSW WorkCover Construction Induction card.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
Grade 9 - $80,125 - $93,275 p.a. plus 11.5% Superannuation
Grade 10 - $88,494 - $101,649 p.a. plus 11.5% Superannuation
Grade 11 - $96,868 - $110,017 p.a. plus 11.5% Superannuation
