Cessnock Kids Preschool and Early Learning Centre is a beautiful, custom-fitted Early Childhood Education and Care Service catering for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, right in the heart of Cessnock. We are proudly independently owned and family run, with a strong commitment to collaborative leadership and supporting our Educators.
With over 40 years experience in Early Childhood Education and Care, we are passionate about providing excellence in early childhood care and education in a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment in which children are fostered to become happy individuals that can positively contribute to their community and the greater society.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team on a part-time basis.
Part-time position. Five (5) Days per Fortnight – 6 ½ hours a day. 8.00am – 2.30pm (Flexible)
Responsibilities:
* Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with dietary requirements and guidelines.
* Ensure all menus, foods and beverages are in line with Get up and Grow Guidelines, Australian Dietary Guidelines, Healthy Eating Guidelines, Munch and Move Guidelines.
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas, following all health and safety regulations.
* Collaborate with Centre staff to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences.
* Monitor and manage inventory, ensuring adequate stock of food and supplies.
* Ensure set budgets are adhered to.
* Assist with special events and celebrations for the Centre providing support as needed.
* Maintain accurate records of food preparation, storage, and temperature logs.
* Ensure that all food is stored in compliance with Health Regulations.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Cook, preferably in a childcare or similar environment.
* Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for young children.
* Understanding of food safety principles and regulations.
* Ability to plan and prepare balanced and appealing meals for children.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Reliable and responsible, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.
* Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or Food Handling and Safety Certificate
