About us:
Work Science, one of Australia's highly regarded safety and risk management consultancies is seeking a growth oriented service line leader, to spearhead a line of business and team of consultants in the occupational hygiene and hazardous building materials consulting part of the business.

We achieve this by considering the evidence base, developing contextual strategies, showing leadership, good management, thoughtful planning and disciplined implementation.
Our clients include large Australian corporations, Commonwealth & State Departments, property owners and managers, infrastructure agencies, construction companies, manufacturers and entertainment providers. Our reputation for solving complex problems means we need a driven leader to join our growing Sydney team.
About the role:
Leading a line of business, and team of consultants in the occupational hygiene, hazardous building materials and environmental consulting part of the business. In this role you will have full autonomy and accountability for the success of this line of business. You will be rewarded by the success of the line of business over time and be supported in your role by leaders of other service lines across the business.
The existing team is well functioning, has a strong pipeline of work, and is looking for a leader that can springboard it to the next level of market growth.

In this leadership, business development and account management role, your responsibilities will include:
* Building new business and winning new work
* Managing a team of consultants
* Managing the systems and processes for this service line
* Providing clients with services in the areas of occupational hygiene, asbestos, hazardous materials, and environment
* Leading and delivering projects which provide clients with technical advice, assessments, inspections, audits, training, workshops, investigations, analysis, and reports – on occupational hygiene, hazardous materials, and environment
* Conducting and supervising sampling and field work
* Delivering client reports and participating in Work Science quality assurance processes
* Providing leadership and support to team members, especially in the occupational hygiene, hazardous materials and environment service line
* Designing and delivering high-quality assignments and engagements
* Conducting quality assurance on client deliverables
* Other tasks and work as required to drive successful outcomes for Work Science and our clients
About you:
Some of the qualities that may describe you include:
* Growth oriented and hungry to win new business
* Hold a relevant undergraduate qualification (in science or business)
* Experience in the occupational hygiene, environmental, asbestos and/or hazardous building materials consulting industry
* Able to generate new business leads
* Able to lead, manage, and/or supervise a team
* May be a NATA analyst and/or signatory
* May be a Licensed Asbestos Assessor
* May be a Certified Occupational Hygienist
Desirable Qualifications and experience
* Degree level qualification in a relevant field
* Experience in hazardous materials, hygiene or related field
* 8 - 12 years' experience delighting your clients, colleagues and onlookers in a consulting or professional services role
* 5+ years' experience leading others
Skills and capabilities
* Team leader, ensures high performance and achievement of team members, driving the delivery of high quality work for clients
* Managing resources, including staff time, against quoted budgets and proposals
* Tenacious, resourceful and willing to work outside comfort zones to learn and grow
* Excellent technical writing and systems documentation skills with excellent attention to detail
* Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, both internally and client-facing
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel
* Curious, inquisitive, adaptable to change and capable to thrive in a commercial consulting environment
* Pragmatic problem solver
