The Role
As the Assistant Director - Learning Systems, you will be the key liaison between our business unit, other areas of Defence and our platform vendor in relation to technical matters and system integrations. You will play an important role in ensuring the platform is managed according to Defence ICT and security requirements, and will have oversight of platform performance and budget.
Your key duties will include:
- Level 3 technical support for learning systems managed by Defence Learning Branch.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate escalated matters, patches, fixes and upgrades.
- Proactively monitor and report on platform performance and budget.
- Manage stakeholder engagement related to databases, applications, servers, integrations and network ecosystems, including oversight of platform operational costs.
- Engage with learning system and technical professionals across Defence to support an integrated learning workplace through a variety of projects and initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Regular access to a Defence base to conduct work is a requirement of this role. There may be occasional work out of hours to support platform updates and resolve issues.
This role is eligible for an Individual Flexibility Arrangement which allows Defence to provide additional remuneration to the base salary and/or the variation of other conditions provided for in the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA). As the Assistant Director - Learning Systems, you will have the ability to work between technical and non-technical stakeholders, seek continuous improvement opportunities, and manage projects to see the uplift of learning capability at Defence.
The key skills and knowledge we are seeking include:
- Experience in Learning Management Systems (Totara Learn or Moodle-based LMS will be highly desirable).
- Effective communication skills (written and oral) with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Investigative and analytical skills as they relate to system capability and performance and in response to escalated issues and outages.
- Knowledge and experience with system integrations, databases and reporting tools to support data analysis, which may include Tableau, Cognos, Power BI and SQL.
