About the Role

The Trial Coordinator works with key stakeholders as part of externally funded projects conducted within the Parent-Child Research Clinic (PCRC). The trial coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of funded research and clinical trials across multiple clinical sites within NSW. This role oversees project staff, data collection, entry, and management, contributes to data analysis and dissemination activities, and assists with grant and philanthropic funding applications.

The Parent-Child Research Clinic (PCRC) in the School of Psychology at the University of New South Wales is directed by Prof Eva Kimonis and conducts research at the intersection of developmental and clinical psychology, to advance scientific research into early intervention for childhood mental disorders.

Role Details

- Level 7 ($113k – $123k) plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
- Fixed Term – 2 years
- Full time (35 hours)

The role reports to Professor Eva Kimonis and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities

- Independently develop and refine study materials (clinical research protocols, standard operating procedures, ethics applications and materials) in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, CONSORT, regulatory guidelines, and study objectives.
- Coordinate project meetings and oversee externally funded projects, ensuring adherence to trial protocols and achievement of milestones.
- Coordinate multi-site clinical trials, including managing recruitment, screening, scheduling, tracking, and follow-up of participants; identify and resolve participation rate issues.
- Develop and maintain efficient systems for scheduling, communication, file organisation, and documentation; train staff and embed these systems into day-to-day research operations.
- Perform trial tasks including scoring measures, literature reviews, data collection, entry, management, analysis, data quality issue resolution, administrative tasks, and contributing to manuscript drafts.
- Monitor adverse events and report to Sponsors and Ethics Committees as appropriate.
- Develop working relationships with stakeholders and coordinate with government departments, media outlets, and school stakeholders.
- Travel to trial sites to perform training, on-site monitoring, and coordination duties.
- Identify philanthropic and grant funding opportunities; prepare grant applications and draft project budgets.
- Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders; manage communications and prioritise urgent matters.
- Manage invoicing and financial processing for clinic training and service activities.
- Assist with preparation and submission of reports, manuscripts, and presentations based on research.
- Maintain ethical and skilled standards of the project and prepare ethics and governance applications.
- Align with the Code of Conduct and Values; comply with health and safety policies and procedures.

About the Successful Applicant (Selection Criteria)

- A postgraduate qualification or equivalent knowledge via education, training, and/or experience.
- Demonstrated clinical trial coordination experience, including protocol development, data management systems, governance, monitoring, and reporting.
- Excellent organisational skills; able to work independently, accurately, and deliver high quality work on time.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Experience providing administrative and research support; able to work well under pressure with attention to detail.
- Experience with research data management and statistical analysis using SPSS.
- Knowledge of HREC and regulatory applications (e.g., GCP and clinical trial reporting).
- Project management skills and familiarity with statistical software (SPSS, R, MPlus).
- Ability to implement UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
- Understanding of and commitment to UNSW aims, objectives, and values.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to relevant health and safety training.
