Located at the Services Building (G12) on the Darlington Campus Contribute to the sustainability goals assigned to Central Operations Services under the University's strategy Base Salary HEO8, $121,508 - $137,032 p.a. 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a Sustainability Officer to join the dynamic Strategic Asset Management (SAM) team within the Asset Management and Operations (AMO) division of Central Operations Services (COS). This dynamic role leads a diverse portfolio of cross-disciplinary sustainability initiatives and targets—including energy efficiency, electrification, carbon reduction, water conservation, resource recovery, waste management, sustainable transport, and climate resilience. It will also oversee governance frameworks, procedural controls, data management, and reporting across both regulatory and voluntary sustainability schemes, while driving internal communications related to COS sustainability efforts. The successful candidate is expected to fulfill the duties of this role onsite as required. Your key responsibilities will be to: perform and manage sustainability initiatives and projects in collaboration with our partners, including but not limited to; energy efficiency, electrification, carbon reduction, water management, resource recovery and waste management, transport and mobility and climate resilience embed sustainability planning into all maintenance and project activities delivered by COS to ensure compliance and benefits realisation of sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance develop and implement sustainability data governance and reporting procedures to monitor and control sustainability benchmarks, targets, boundaries, program/project progress status updates, risks, opportunities and quality assurance develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with multiple stakeholders across the University and external partners, ensuring effective communication and on-going understanding of COS sustainability initiatives and key requirements prepare reports, briefings, and other communication to inform on environmental sustainability progress and achievements, both internally and externally. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Sustainability Officer who has: tertiary qualifications in Environment Engineering, Environment Science or Sustainability as well as an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience demonstrated experience in sustainability capacity building in a large and complex organisation experience with multiple work streams or working in large complex projects and ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands knowledge and experience of environmental sustainability issues, practices and solutions relevant to the building and property sectors proven expertise in the driving, developing, establishing and implementing of Environmental Sustainability strategies, governance systems, procedures and· processes proficient data analysis skills to query and validate data and to discover patterns and relationships within the data.
