Commissioning Engineer - Utility-Scale Energy Storage Systems
About our clientOur Client is a global provider of battery technology and energy storage systems, supporting large-scale deployments across international markets. In Australia, Our Client works with local partners to deliver utility-scale BESS projects, providing end-to-end support including testing, commissioning, integration, and grid compliance for energy storage solutions. As a Commissioning Engineer, you will lead on-site delivery and troubleshooting for battery energy storage systems (Battery / PCS / EMS) and support the project's grid-connection milestones. This is a field-focused role requiring extensive travel, close collaboration with internal technical teams and external stakeholders, and hands-on problem-solving to ensure safe, timely, and compliant project outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Travel: Accept travel on-site.
* Grid Connection: Interpret Australian grid-connection requirements and track key milestones through the connection process.
* BESS Expertise: Apply strong technical understanding of BESS products (batteries / PCS / EMS) to diagnose and resolve issues.
* Troubleshooting: Lead on-site fault analysis and structured problem-solving for battery energy storage systems.
* Delivery Leadership: Lead technical teams to complete on-site delivery and commissioning activities for energy storage systems.
* Client Support: Provide on-site technical support to address client issues during project execution.
Skills and Experience
* Qualification: Tertiary qualification (college degree or above) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
* Technical Foundation: Strong electrical background with practical, hands-on capability in field environments.
* Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical issues and drive solutions under time and site constraints.
* Commissioning Exposure: Experience in ESS commissioning is preferred.
* Tools: Proficient with standard Microsoft Office tools for reporting, tracking, and documentation.
* Languages: Chinese (Mandarin) language capability is advantageous for cross-regional stakeholder collaboration.
