The Chief Information Officer (CIO) Command's mission is to be a trusted frontline partner, enabling policing through problem solving, technical expertise and excellence. The CIO Command provides corporate applications, ICT end-to-end solutions, advice, cybersecurity, and infrastructure that underpins AFP activities. Products and services are user-focused, secure, fit for purpose, and supported by a skilled, agile, and resilient workforce.
The AFP's Police and Operational Systems section is part of CIO and is responsible for the technical delivery of the AFP's Investigation Management System (IMS). The IMS provides a single platform to manage investigations throughout their lifecycle. As a Developer in the IMS Technical team you will contribute to the development and sustainment of key applications that directly support AFP frontline members.
As a Team Leader in the AFP you will play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours to foster a supportive culture that respects each individual. Consistent with AFP values and leadership philosophy, you will deliver on core responsibilities as outlined below and meet position requirements.
You will also contribute to outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
What will you do?
As a Senior Software Developer in the IMS Technical team you will be responsible for:
Analysis of requirements and systems analysis of existing applications
Creating new and updating existing design artefacts with proposed changes
Creating new and updating user interfaces using C# .NET, VB6, Angular, SAS Visual Investigator; creating new and updating interfaces (REST API); creating new and updating deployment pipelines (YAML, Octopus Deploy); undertaking general DevOps tasks (Group Policy, Citrix Management, PowerShell scripting as required)
Implementation of proposed changes including liaising with Subject Matter Experts, Product Owner, testers, change/release/Incident management and operations teams
Providing knowledge/skills transfer to other team members
Recording and maintaining files/information/documentation in accordance with AFP requirements
Being accountable for completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements
Guide and mentoring team members
Building and sustaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one
Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role
Desirable Requirements
Experience with Linux
Experience with the Agile Methodology
Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise

This role is located in Canberra; however remote working options may be negotiated
