Your role
As Deputy Commissioner, Strategy and Governance, you will lead the development of innovative strategies and policies that position Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) as a leader in contemporary, world-class correctional services. This role drives long-term planning to foster a rehabilitative culture, a safe work environment, and an engaged workforce. You will oversee governance functions including sentence management, parole, research and evaluation, program development, and capability building through the CSNSW Academy. A key focus is ensuring offender programs and interventions are evidence-based and delivered effectively in both custody and the community through strong collaboration across all CSNSW divisions.
What You’ll Do
As the Deputy Commissioner, Strategy and Governance, your role will include:
Leading the development of CSNSW’s Strategic Plan, policies, and assurance frameworks aligned with Government priorities. Overseeing evidence-based offender programs and interventions, ensuring effective delivery in custody and the community with measurable outcomes. Provide strategic advice to the Minister and Commissioner on policy, service delivery, and reform initiatives. Driving innovative strategies to improve outcomes for First Nations people and contribute to Closing the Gap targets. Fostering partnerships with government, commercial, and not-for-profit providers to deliver integrated, cost-effective services.
What We’re Looking For
Extensive senior executive experience or strategic leadership within a large, complex organisation. Expertise in strategic planning and policy development, including implementing governance and assurance frameworks. Strong leadership in organisational change, with the ability to foster collaboration across multiple divisions. Experience in evidence-based program design and delivery, particularly in rehabilitation and reintegration. Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, including working with Ministers, senior executives, and external partners. Ability to manage complex challenges in a high-risk, politically sensitive environment with competing priorities.Eligibility to hold NV1 security clearance
