We are representing a Queensland Government client seeking 2 x Application Developers to support the design, development, enhancement, and support of enterprise in-house applications within a core systems environment. This is a hands‐on contract role suited to developers with strong enterprise Java capability who are comfortable across analysis, build, testing, deployment, support and ongoing system maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop and enhance enterprise applications in Java
* Perform systems analysis across new and existing applications
* Build solutions aligned to established standards and practices
* Contribute to code quality, testing and continuous integration practices
* Resolve application support issues across custom‐built systems
* Provide maintenance and support advice
* Perform regular system maintenance tasks
* Support knowledge transfer and collaborative development across the team
Key Technical Experience
* Enterprise Java development, ideally Java 17 or 21
* JSF and exposure to PrimeFaces or similar component libraries
* HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
* Spring 5.x including Spring Security
* Hibernate / JPA
* Maven
* JUnit, Mockito, PowerMock
* Selenium or broader web testing principles
* Git and Bitbucket
* Jira and Confluence
* Oracle SQL / PL/SQL
* TomEE / Tomcat
* Deployment and maintenance across Unix and/or Windows hosted solutions
Evaluation Criteria
* EC1: Demonstrated experience designing, coding, testing, correcting, deploying and documenting large and/or complex programs using Java SE/EE development kits to achieve a well‐engineered result within a specified timeframe.
* EC2: Demonstrated experience undertaking impact analysis on major design options and assessing associated benefits and risks to ensure system design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements.
* EC3: Demonstrated experience in utilising software development best practices including code reviews, continuous integration and related quality‐focused delivery methods.
* EC4: Demonstrated experience facilitating changes in approaches and work practices that improved the quality of software development outcomes.
* EC5: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively to plan appropriate development activities and transition technical knowledge to other development team members.
* EC6: Demonstrated customer‐focused approach, collaborative working style and effective communication skills.
