**Your new role**
The Head of IT, Cybersecurity, leads the organisation's planning, establishment, and continual improvement of the cybersecurity program and project initiatives to safeguard the organisation's information systems and assets from internal and external security risks. The Head of IT, Cybersecurity works closely with a broad range of professional and academic staff and student stakeholders to promote and advance cybersecurity across the organisation and its partners to achieve an enduring cultural change and robust cybersecurity capability. The role is the central point for cyber systems security expertise and collaborates with stakeholders to negotiate and advise on time frames, priorities, security plans, budgets and change impacts.
**Role Requirements and accountabilities**
- Lead the development and implementation of the strategic and operational cybersecurity initiatives required to identify and protect the organisation's information assets and critical infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain a security architecture and design process that enables the enterprise to develop and implement cybersecurity solutions and capabilities that are clearly aligned with business, technology and threat drivers.
- Identify, evaluate and monitor security risks (within Technology Services and via collaboration with Work Units) and report status to the relevant Directors and Executives.
- Plan and execute ongoing cybersecurity awareness and education campaigns to promote and foster culture change and effective cybersecurity practices.
- Work closely with internal and external auditors to help implement controls and mitigate risk whilst improving the maturity of cybersecurity baselines within the organisation.
- Identify, evaluate and document the design and effectiveness of the organisation's cybersecurity technologies and controls.
- Create, review and update cybersecurity checklists, playbooks, work instructions, guidelines, policies and procedures to enable operational and project cybersecurity initiatives to be implemented in alignment with best practise principles, policies and legislative and regulatory compliance obligations.
- Provide leadership and guidance on cybersecurity planning and to project team/s.
- Plan, implement and report on security measures on all information systems and networks including the funding and resourcing for new and ongoing security initiatives.
Special work requirements:
- A valid Driver's Licence, with an ability and willingness to travel between different sites in order to undertake duties, as required by supervisor.
- May be required to start and finish work between the hours of 7 am to 7 pm and work overtime when required, including weekends.
- A Criminal History Check.
