Reporting to the Team Leader Plant and Fleet, the Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the servicing and repairs to heavy vehicles, light fleet, and other equipment. The purpose of this role is to ensure that Council’s Plant & Fleet is repaired and/or serviced with a focus on safety and efficient service delivery. Key responsibilities of the role include:

* Maintain, repair and service vehicles, trailers, and other equipment in line with relevant legislation and standards.
* Use specialised tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot complex problems and make accurate repairs.
* Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and manufacturer recommendations related to heavy vehicles.
* Use efficient and safe work practices relevant to the type of work being performed.
* Demonstrate our values and behaviours when interacting with others and in delivering the outcomes of this role.

You will be rostered on a 9-day fortnight schedule, optimising your work time while offering flexibility.

* The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the servicing and repairing of earthmoving equipment, heavy vehicles, and light fleet vehicles.
* Ability to use specialised tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot complex problems and make accurate repairs.
* You will be an exceptional communicator, skilled in building positive relationships internally and externally.
* You hold a current HR Drivers Licence or are willing to obtain.
* You hold a forklift licence or are willing to obtain.
* You have an Australian recognised trade certificate as a Diesel Mechanic or equivalent.
* You must be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical and police check.
