Quantum Research Leader

Join a leading research team in quantum technologies to advance decarbonisation.

We are seeking a Senior Lecturer to lead and contribute to the Griffith Node of the Queensland Quantum Decarbonisation Alliance (QDA), pursuing research aimed at reducing climate impact by the application of quantum technology. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with researchers from the University of Queensland, Psi-Quantum, and other partners to achieve QDA goals.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in quantum algorithm development, proven by publications, and experience in teaching and research supervision. They will also be expected to contribute to the School's teaching activities, fostering an outstanding student experience and promoting active engagement in learning.

* You will lead and/or contribute to the Griffith Node of the Queensland Quantum Decarbonisation Alliance (QDA), and pursue research aimed at reducing climate impact by the application of quantum technology.
* You will seek collaborations and knowledge-sharing within QDA, both at Griffith and with researchers at the University of Queensland (lead Node), Psi-Quantum, and other partners.
* You will work with a QDA-funded team in ICT comprising yourself, another new Senior Lecturer appointment, a 3-year postdoc, and two PhD students funded by the project.
* You will ensure that your team contributes as required to the relevant milestones in QDA – including research goals, relevant course development and teaching, training, and industry engagement.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and/or contribute to the Griffith Node of the Queensland Quantum Decarbonisation Alliance (QDA).

2. Pursue research aimed at reducing climate impact by the application of quantum technology.

3. Seek collaborations and knowledge-sharing within QDA.

4. Work with a QDA-funded team in ICT.

5. Ensure team contributions to QDA milestones.


Qualifications:

* A doctoral qualification in computer science or a relevant field (e.g. mathematics, physics or theoretical chemistry), or equivalent accreditation and standing.
* A strong track record in quantum algorithm development, proven by publications.
* Other relevant experience, preferably in areas such as scientific software development, quantum algorithm optimisation, and applications of quantum algorithms in disciplines like chemistry (preferred), physics or engineering.
* Experience and demonstrated competence in teaching, and preferably also course-development, outreach, grant management, training, and industry engagement.
* Demonstrated leadership and supervision skills and ability to attract external funding.


Benefits:

The full time equivalent base salary will be $138,702 - $159,936 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $162,281 - $187,125 per annum.
