**Who we are**
**The Biosecurity Animal Division** works with Australian industries, governments, and the community to strengthen Australia's animal disease prevention, preparedness, and response capabilities. The division works to maintain and enhance trade and market access for animals and animal products. The division also provides scientific and technical support and undertakes negotiations to gain, maintain and improve access for the export of Australian animals and their genetic material.
**The Job**
The role involves the following responsibilities:
- Providing advice to importers, operational staff within the department, other stakeholders and government agencies on management of biosecurity risks.
- Supporting import permit, import condition and enquiry workflows by working in partnership with, and escalating matters to the import programs.
- Providing assistance and support to team leaders and supervisors in monitoring operations and service delivery.
- Optimising the Biosecurity Import Conditions database (BICON) functionality by championing its use, mentoring and training others in its use, responding to content or user enquires and referring system or content matters to the Service Desk or the BICON Content team respectively.
- Building and sustaining supportive, effective and collaborative relationships.
**Desirable knowledge and experience**:
- ** Knowledge**:
o Qualifications and/or relevant experience in biological, agricultural, veterinary or environmental science, animal health, or biosecurity are desirable but not mandatory.
o An understanding of Australia's biosecurity system and its importance.
- **Experience**:
o Working in a fast-paced operational and regulatory environment.
o Providing responsive customer service and assisting clients to understand complex policies and procedures.
**Security Clearance of Baseline Vetting will be required to be obtained and maintained.**
