We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Inspector to join our Advanced Manufacturing line of business based at Edinburgh Parks-SA, reporting to the Production Supervisor.
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting precision-machined components using various methods, including coordinate measuring machines and manual techniques, to ensure they meet dimensional and acceptance standards. You will work closely with the Advanced Machining team to uphold these quality standards.
* You will operate, set up, and monitor CMM machines efficiently.
* You will conduct precise manual inspections with micrometres, calipers, height gauges, and other tools.
* You will analyse engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy.
* You will document inspection data, generate detailed reports, and maintain records.
* You will support troubleshooting efforts to optimize CMM machine performance.
* You will collaborate in daily production activities to reinforce safety, quality, cost control, delivery, and team culture.
* You will adhere to safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure a safe work environment.
* You will follow setup procedures, perform quality control checks, and address non-conformities to maintain high quality standards.
* You will engage in daily business rhythm activities to support operational efficiency.
About YOU
* A Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or recognised qualification is required.
* Experience in operating CMMs within a machining environment is essential.
* Skilled in manual inspection techniques using micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
* Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
* Capable of identifying and documenting non-conformances in production.
* Background in multi-axis CNC machining and producing high-precision components is highly desirable.
* Knowledgeable in calibration processes and inspection equipment maintenance.
* Experience using PC-DMIS is highly desirable
* Experience in CMM programming and using GD&T to guide inspection highly desirable
* Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
* Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
