Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Nurse Unit Manager, Emergency Department to join us in a permanent full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield – opening early 2026. This state‑of‑the‑art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it's set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide operational/clinical management and leadership to the Emergency Department in partnership with nursing, medical, allied health and administrative teams
* Identifying and implementing opportunities for clinical service development and improvement in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager and General Manager
* Achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care across Mater Health
* Maintain current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
* Developing, improving and monitoring systems and processes to ensure service is managed effectively and efficiently
* Professionalline management of the nursing team
* Leading by example to provide high level clinical care for our patients
* Utilising expert level communication strategies to guide the team in achieving the unit's goals
Qualifications and Experience
* 5 years post‑graduate specialty nursing experience, preferable in the unit's specialties
* Current AHPRA nursing registration with no restrictions
* Solid understanding of private health care
* Proven use of exceptional communication skill to motivate and lead a team to achieve goals
* Strong change management skills and influencing/negotiating experience
* Demonstrated competence in cost centre management
* Willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
