AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to the cloud. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented people to help.

Amazon Construction Project Managers (CPMs) lead in construction innovation and focus on delivering the most innovative products to customers. The Data Center CPM is responsible for day-to-day construction oversight and management of contractors and serves as a leader in construction management, building services, architectural, electrical, or mechanical engineering. They deliver construction of sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems in world-class data centers.
At Amazon we own opportunities from the substation to the server and back to cooling towers. We are diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented construction professionals developing data centers that change the face of data facilities.
Daily responsibilities include all aspects of the data center lifecycle construction from site feasibility, procurement of design teams and design review, daily construction oversight, and commissioning of completed facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Project management and oversight of construction activities for new builds or general capital projects, including ownership of scope, timeline, and budgets.
- Drive costs down and shorten schedules while maintaining quality.
- Provide Construction Management for initiatives aimed at increasing the resiliency of our data centers.
- Review constructability of electrical and mechanical systems and building designs for new data centers or optimization of existing ones.
- Create project scope and equipment requirements, assist with requests for proposals and capital requests.
- Oversee total project quality including commissioning and integrated system testing and execution.
- Issue/manage the Request for Information (RFI) process during construction and coordinate construction administration with engineers.
- Record and report key metrics to team members and management.
- Concurrently manage multiple projects, including new data center builds and capital improvements to existing centers.
- Provide operational support for installed facilities, including review of procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.
- Be a leader within the group and with internal and external teams supporting the data center.
- Travel to data center sites for electrical and mechanical system audits, constructability reviews, startup testing, and full commissioning as required.
Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see applicants/eligibility-and-suitability)
Basic qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience in design and construction management
- Experience in program management in mission-critical facilities
- Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings for all disciplines
- Experience moving new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment/production
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in Construction Management, Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in mission-critical projects (data centers, semiconductor facilities, hospitals, oil and gas)
- Knowledge of Australian building codes and regulations including Fire, Building, Energy Efficiency, Sanitary, and Safety Codes
- Vendor and contractor/subcontractor negotiation and management skills for construction and project execution
- Experience in mechanical and electrical systems
