Research Associate: Exploring Genetic Diversity in Citrus

The primary goal of this position is to identify and characterize genomic regions associated with domestication and Huanglongbing (HLB) tolerance/resistance in Australian native citrus.

This will involve evaluating the diversity of these genomic regions across wild and cultivated Citrus germplasm, with a focus on developing novel breeding strategies for future HLB resistance efforts.

As part of this role, you will work closely with our team to design and implement cutting-edge genomics and bioinformatics approaches to analyze genomic data and identify key genetic determinants of HLB resistance.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design and execute experiments to investigate the genetic basis of HLB resistance in Australian native citrus
* Analyze genomic data using advanced computational tools and statistical methods
* Collaborate with the research team to integrate genomic data with phenotypic information to identify key genes and pathways involved in HLB resistance

To be successful in this role, you will require a strong background in genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with programming languages such as Python or R is highly desirable, as is familiarity with next-generation sequencing technologies.

A Master's degree in Plant Sciences, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related field is essential, and candidates should have a proven track record of academic excellence and research experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and talented researcher to contribute to a high-impact project that has significant implications for the Australian citrus industry.

Requirements:

* Master's degree in Plant Sciences, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related field
* Strong background in genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Experience with programming languages such as Python or R
* Familiarity with next-generation sequencing technologies

As a Research Associate, you will join a dynamic and collaborative research team dedicated to advancing our understanding of plant genomics and development of innovative solutions for crop improvement.

What We Offer:

* A competitive salary and benefits package
* The opportunity to work on a high-impact project with significant implications for the Australian citrus industry
* A dynamic and supportive research environment with opportunities for professional growth and development
