We're on the lookout for an exceptional Maintenance Officer and Groundsperson to join our supportive Track and Facilities team at Tasracing. The Role:
As a member of the Track & Facilities team reporting directly to the Track & Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Officer and Groundsperson is responsible for the maintenance of the all-racecourse buildings and structures across Tasracing's southern venues in order to maximise the availability and performance of these assets. You will possess a sound understanding of building maintenance, workplace health and safety and the ability to keep records.
Key Responsibilities:
* Keep our turf top-notch by replacing divots, watering, and helping with rail movements.
* Use and care for turf tools and equipment like mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, handheld power tools, HP tractors, implements and light trucks.
* Work with specialist gear to maintain our Thoroughbred turf track.
* Pitch in for Harness and Greyhound track maintenance, from grading to watering.
* Give a hand with general grounds and horticultural tasks.
* Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance is performed on all building and structural assets according to priority in order to meet expected service delivery times.
* Report any defects or improvements/replacements in buildings and equipment as necessary.
* Ensure plant and equipment is used in a safe manner, is tested and tagged in accordance with its intended use.
* Provide general maintenance for buildings and structures associated to the track.
* Work closely with external contractors and suppliers regarding repairs and maintenance.
About You:

* Know your way around turf gear like tractors and mowers.
* Previous experience in a role with carpentry/general building maintenance or similar.
* Have a proven track record of maintaining grounds.
* Ability to operate autonomously and thrive in a team.
* Champion workplace safety.
* Embrace flexibility and initiative.
* Have availability to do overtime for race preparation and meetings.
* Hold a driver's license.
