Position Details:

* Location: Alice Springs
* Employment Type: Permanent Full-time
* Excellent Remuneration: $90k - $100k + 12% super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leave
* Reports To: Foundation 2 Future Program Manager, Central Australia
* Hours: Normal business hours, with flexibility for additional hours as needed
* Travel: Occasional travel to other Saltbush service locations

Primary Purpose of the Role: As a Trainer you will be responsible for development and delivery of workshops and activities to facilitate skills, confidence and knowledge learning of Foundation 2 Future participants and other Employment Services programs where required; responding to individual needs and barriers to achieve personal outcomes for each person.

Working with other team members you will be organising and delivering curated activities for structured learning outcomes on-site and off-site, on job and off job with groups of up to 20 Aboriginal job seekers or in smaller groups as appropriate.

Skills and knowledge development will be focussed on employability capacity, and some targeted industry learning to assist individuals navigate and secure sustainable employment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To ensure success in your role as a Program Trainer/Facilitator, you will:

Session Delivery & Facilitation

* Facilitate culturally responsive, strengths-based learning sessions using structured yet flexible frameworks.
* Adapt delivery approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs, including low LLN, trauma-affected, and disengaged participants.
* Create inclusive, culturally safe environments that encourage active engagement and self-discovery.
* Incorporate yarning circles, storytelling, visual aids, and local context into learning delivery.
* Respond to shifts in group energy and dynamics, ensuring psychological and cultural safety is maintained.

Program & Content Development

* Design a scaffolded program of workshops that progress from confidence-building to employer expectations.
* Develop high-quality session plans, facilitation guides, and learner materials for digital and paper use.
* Embed trauma-informed, learner-centred principles and employer-focused preparation into session design.
* Support the delivery of employer-focused workshops that foster inclusive, culturally safe workplaces.
* Work with Mentors to ensure learning materials align with participant goals and workplace readiness.

Participant Support & Progression

* Build strong, respectful relationships with participants, celebrating strengths and milestones.
* Support development of personalised learning and job-readiness pathways linked to local industry opportunities.

Collaboration & Teamwork

* Collaborate with Mentors, Counsellor, and the Engagement Officer to align training with participant plans and wellbeing.
* Coordinate with the Engagement Officer to involve external stakeholders and employers where appropriate.

Program Operations & Logistics

* Lead and coordinate workshops, excursions, guest speaker visits, and celebration events.
* Work in close partnership with the Course Administrator to ensure all program logistics are effectively managed — including advance bookings, venue readiness, rescheduling when needed, and sourcing tools and materials — so the trainer is fully supported and sessions are delivered smoothly.
* Support tracking of program data including participation, engagement, and progression to contribute to program evaluation.

Essential Selection Criteria:

* Experience delivering group learning in community-based or non-traditional settings.
* Ability to facilitate practical workshops that build soft skills and employability.
* Adaptable and energetic facilitation style to support diverse learning needs, including participants with low LLN or trauma backgrounds.
* Ability to create inclusive, culturally safe, and trauma-aware learning environments.
* Strong relationship-building skills and a strengths-based approach to participant engagement.
* Experience developing session plans, learning materials, and facilitation resources.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage participants and stakeholders.
* Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, with the ability to manage files and data digitally (e.g. SharePoint).
* Knowledge of employment pathways and life skills relevant to NT industries such as care, trades, hospitality, or administration.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to confidentiality, cultural respect, and safe program delivery.

Highly Desirable Criteria:

* Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
* Lived experience or strong relational ties with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Background in youth work, coaching, employment services, or community facilitation.
* Experience in co-designing or delivering place-based training.
* Practical experience in relevant industries (e.g. trades, community services, admin, hospitality).
* Confidence working in informal settings outside traditional classrooms (e.g. outdoor learning, yarning spaces).

Employment is Subject to the Provision of the Following:

* National Police Clearance (no more than three months old)
* NT Working with Children (OCHRE) Card
* Current NT Driver's Licence
* Current First Aid
