About the role
Mater Health has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Biomedical Technician to join the Engineering and Maintenance team in a permanent full-time opportunity, based at our South Brisbane campus.
As a Biomedical Technician, you will be required to perform diverse technical tasks on a day to day basis under supervision as it relates to service support of general biomedical equipment, and to contribute to the Biomedical team's goals.
Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
* Deliver routine biomedical technical services and undertake a range of tasks under the direction and supervision of more senior practitioners (for example: acceptance testing of new equipment and routine preventative maintenance of existing equipment)
* Work cooperatively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team under the direction of more senior practitioners
* Apply established methods and procedures in the interests of monitoring quality control
* Independently make decisions and carry out routine tasks in relation to the work that is within the sphere of responsibility (decisions and independence will increase over time)
* Participate in the introduction of new technologies or processes in the work area
* Attend training for continuing professional and technical development
* Participate in 24-hour, 7 day on-call roster
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
* The successful applicant must hold at least an Associate Diploma (if graduating prior to the year 2000) or a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) (Year 2000 onwards), and/or extensive operational experience.
* Restricted Electrical Work Licence (competencies 1, 3 and 5) as issued by Electrical Workers and Contractors Board (Qld)
* Demonstrates a competent level of knowledge, expertise and skill in Biomedical Electronic Engineering services
* Demonstrated ability to apply established methods and procedures in completing routine Biomedical Service tasks, as well as ability to complete more complex tasks under the guidance of more experienced practitioners.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team under the direction of more senior practitioners
* Desirable to have completed formal IT network training, example Cisco education
