**About the role**
Three, full-time permanent project officer positions are now available within in the Open Space and Recreation Planning team, reporting directly to Council's new 'Lead - Open Space & Recreation Planning'. This is a unique opportunity to join a renewed team responsible for scoping, design, community engagement and implementation oversight for a range of community projects across Shoalhaven. The team collaborates broadly across the organisation in relation to a variety of matters, including: municipal strategy & policy, strategic & statutory planning; community facilities, asset management, and more. These positions will be working
**35 hours** per week (Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm), based at
**Nowra Administration Building.**

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprised of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

**Duties**
Reporting directly to the Lead - Open Space & Recreation, the focus of this position is to:

- Support the team Lead to deliver projects, correspondence, presentations, research, community consultation, and more as requested.
- Coordinate (manage) open space and recreation planning projects from inception and concept design through to design development and development approval.
- Provide oversight and support to project (contract) managers during tender and construction phases, through to completion.
- Develop and implement policies, strategies, and project briefs to support the provision of programs, assets, and related infrastructure to improve population health and quality of life outcomes in Shoalhaven.
- Engage and communicate with project stakeholders, including Councillors, the Executive
- Management Team, Council Officers (staff), government authorities, non-government organisations, community groups, and the general public.
- Advocate for open space and recreation objectives and outcomes, including matters relating to parks, playgrounds, sportsgrounds, showgrounds, public amenities, community buildings, and more.

**Skills & Experience**
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
Grade 9
- Process of obtaining or has completed a degree or tertiary qualifications in a field such as recreation planning, sports management, regional planning, urban or town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, cultural planning, or related fields.
- Alternatively, the person has a Graduate Diploma in relevant planning field.

Grade 10
- Completed a degree or tertiary qualifications in a field such as recreation planning, sports management, regional planning, urban or town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, cultural planning, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience (up to 4 years) within a planning environment and intermediate working knowledge of Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment & Act, and Crown Land Management Act.

Grade 11
- Completed a degree or tertiary qualifications in a field such as recreation planning, sports
- management, regional planning, urban or town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, cultural planning, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience (approx. 7 years) within a planning environment and thorough / proficient working knowledge of Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment & Act, and Crown Land Management Act.

These positions require:

- A Class C drivers' licence
- Proof of right to work in Australia.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, prospective employees will be assessed as either Grade 9, 10 or 11.
