**Head of Analytics**

**The Organisation**
Bluefin Resources are partnering with The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) to recruit a Head of Analytics. Through the development of rules, regulations, and policies, the AEMC works for Australia's future by contributing to decarbonisation, energy affordability and creating reliable energy systems for consumers.
**The role**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and deliver robust analysis & models to assist the organisation in making scientific decisions that influence rules & policies
- Provide advice on complex analysis and modelling outcomes for use in policy reviews, and communicate complex issues or concepts in a way that is accessible to a wide range of stakeholders
- Own and oversee the AEMC Data and Analytics Framework, including evolving the framework to ensure alignment with AEMC strategic objectives
- Keep abreast of current market trends to make sure that AEMC is up to date in the research and development on modelling issues relevant to the energy sector
- Facilitate and promote an understanding of analysis, modelling, and reasoning to support the growth of analytical knowledge and capability within AEMC
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements, as well as managing expectations and provide solutions
- Manage modelling and analytical projects such as budgeting and contract management to support AEMC strategic objectives
**About You**:
- Tertiary qualifications in either Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science
- At least 8+ years analytics experience post qualification
- Hands on experience in technical analysis & modelling - this role will require the successful applicant to be hands on a portion of the time
- Proven expertise in either Python or R, along with SQL and data visualisation tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik)
- Experience managing, supporting, and coaching technical teams
- An ability to interpret complex analysis and provide clear recommendations
- A solid understanding of the energy or other utilities sectors is highly desirable
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, coupled with an ability to coach and mentor others in the resolution of complex problems
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build robust partnership with a various internal and external stakeholders
Due to the nature of the role, you will need to have permanent working rights in Australia, either Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship.
