The City of Launceston is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Property Officer to join our Property and Asset Strategy team. This role plays a key part in managing the City's diverse property portfolio and ensuring all leasing, licensing and property-related activities align with Council's strategic direction and legislative requirements.
The Senior Property Officer provides specialist technical advice across the property function, supports complex leasing and property projects, and identifies opportunities to improve systems, processes, and compliance. The role also mentors Property and Leasing Officers and works collaboratively across multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver best-value community outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Coordinating leases, licences and agreements, including complex negotiations
* Supporting property acquisitions, disposals and rationalisation processes
* Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports to support renewals and property decisions
* Identifying and driving improvements in property management systems and processes
* Undertaking property-related research, valuations and documentation in consultation with legal and financial teams
* Conducting site inspections and preparing clear documentation for decision-makers
* Supporting the processing of invoices, rent payments and lease income
* Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal teams, lessees, community groups and professional service providers
* Ensuring governance, audit and reporting requirements are met

You are a detail-focused property professional who demonstrates our organisational values and brings a strong customer and community focus. You communicate clearly, establish positive working relationships, and enjoy contributing to improved systems and modern property practices.
We are looking for someone who has
* A deep understanding of property management, leasing, acquisitions and disposals within a local government or complex organisational environment
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate property data and provide practical recommendations
* Solid working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas) and property-related regulatory frameworks
* Experience using property management systems and databases
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders and competing priorities
* Tertiary qualifications in property management, real estate, contract management, business administration or equivalent experience
