Role Summary
An experienced Program Scheduler is required to support delivery of a major Defence capability program. The role is responsible for developing, maintaining, integrating and assuring high-quality program schedules to support planning, governance and decision-making across a complex portfolio environment.
The Program Scheduler will contribute to schedule governance, standards uplift, and cross-program schedule integration, while providing scheduling insight and guidance to stakeholders and APS staff.
This is a hands-on scheduling role suited to a practitioner experienced in complex Defence or large enterprise program environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain and update integrated program schedules across multiple workstreams
* Conduct schedule analysis and produce reporting to support program and portfolio decision-making
* Support schedule integration across related projects and program elements
* Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS / PWBS) and supporting schedule data dictionaries
* Apply schedule governance frameworks, controls and quality assurance practices
* Maintain schedule templates, standards and configuration controls
* Provide scheduling insights, guidance and technical support to stakeholders
* Support scheduling maturity and APS capability uplift through mentoring and knowledge transfer
* Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling practices and artefacts
* Ensure schedule data integrity and traceability across planning baselines
Required Skills & Experience
* Demonstrated experience as a Program or Project Scheduler within Defence or other complex program environments
* Strong experience building and maintaining integrated schedules
* Proven capability in schedule analysis, reporting and critical path assessment
* Experience developing WBS / PWBS structures and schedule dictionaries
* Experience operating within schedule governance and assurance frameworks
* Ability to manage schedule baselines, updates and change impacts
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Experience supporting schedule standards and process uplift
Tools & Technical Capability
Experience with one or more of the following scheduling tools is required:
* Primavera (P6 or equivalent)
* Microsoft Project
* OPP (Open Plan Professional)
* Schedule reporting and analysis tooling
Desirable
* Experience working in Defence portfolio or capability delivery environments
* Experience contributing to scheduling governance frameworks
* Experience mentoring or uplifting scheduling capability within teams
* Familiarity with integrated portfolio or program planning environments
