About The Role

As a Management Accountant you are more than just a number cruncher. You will be leveraging your existing experience and professional skills to become a trusted strategic advisor. You will be a problem solver and influencer, using your expertise to help Council grow and evolve as an organisation. You will be working with all levels of the organisation including the General Managers and Executive team.

You will develop a diverse level of experience, working with various departments and broadening your understanding of Council operations. You will also gain a wholistic view of how different areas contribute to the overall success of Council.

Key skills you will develop in this role include strategic planning, financial analysis and leadership. Your contribution will directly impact Councils financial health and strategic direction.

Due to the diverse nature of Councils operations, each finance business partner is allocated a separate portfolio to support. Finance business partners also work together as a cohesive team and support each other.

This includes exercising due diligence and managing compliance with legislative obligations through visible leadership. Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or equivalent qualification and either possess or be working towards professional membership certification such as CA or CPA. A current "C" Class Driver's License is also required.

In addition, applicants must have a minimum of three years' experience as a finance business partner or in a similar role that requires collaboration with non-financial stakeholders. Strong technical skills are essential, including advanced financial modelling and analysis, proficiency in financial reporting tools and software, and expertise in budgeting and forecasting processes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities are critical, alongside advanced Excel skills. Effective communication is equally important, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial information and build strong interpersonal relationships with stakeholders.
