This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely revenue billing processes, with a strong focus on Medicare and health fund compliance. About the Role The Revenue Administration Officer is responsible for reviewing and updating pathology request forms to ensure compliance with Medicare, Ministry of Health, and Commonwealth policies. The role contributes to maximising revenue outcomes by ensuring all billing information is accurate, complete, and aligned with current billing standards. You will work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that requires strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Interpret and apply Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) item coning and pathology billing rules Make informed decisions regarding invoice adjustments, item number modifications, and rebilling Review incoming pathology request forms to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance Accurately enter and update billing information within the Laboratory Information System (LIS) Modify financial classifications within billing systems to support accurate invoicing Run, process, and maintain electronic invoicing, payment, and rejection reports Liaise with Medicare Australia, health funds, and internal/external stakeholders Identify recurring issues and escalate trends to supervisors for resolution Support team members by providing guidance and contributing to a cooperative team environment Maintain accurate records and spreadsheets relating to corrected billing information Uphold ethical, respectful, and accountable workplace practices in line with NSW Government values Key Challenges Managing a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines Identifying and resolving complex billing and compliance issues Adapting to procedural changes while maintaining high standards of compliance About You You will bring strong administrative and billing experience, ideally within a health, finance, or government environment. You are highly organised, detail-focused, and confident working with billing systems and data. Essential Requirements Demonstrated knowledge of billing compliance and experience using relevant software systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment Proven ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and sound judgement Ability to adapt effectively to changing procedures and priorities Additional Information This role may require the use of a respirator in line with NSW Government workplace health and safety requirements.
