Position Summary
Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is an Aboriginal community-controlled or-ganisation, providing services and running social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aborigi-nal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.
The Family Safety & Social Services (FS&SS) Division includes a variety of programs including Tangentyere Family Violence Prevention Program (FVPP) under which sits the Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP), Domestic Violence Specialist Children’s Service (DVSCS), Strong Families Program and the Tan-gentyere Women’s Family Safety Group (TWFSG).
The Tangentyere Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) incorporates Element Four of the Northern Territory’s Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Framework 2018-2028 Safe, Respected and Free from Violence and is one of the five key components of the Northern Territory Government ten-year plan to reduce the impact of domestic, family, and sexual violence in our community.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills who is committed to reducing violence against women and children in Central Australia. The position will involve client work, staff supervision, stakeholder engagement and administrative elements to delivering a Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) that is culturally safe by individuals, families, and communities across the Alice Springs region. The position will include ongoing review of the service delivery model through a continuous improvement approach to ensure the program is delivering current evidence based practice rel-evant to the needs of families in Central Australia.
To successfully fill this role the Men’s Behaviour Change Program Manager will have completed tertiary studies in Social Work, Welfare Studies, Psychology, or a related discipline and have significant experience in all facets of Men’s Behaviour Change work. Experience in and an understanding of the Judiciary system along with training in the supervision of staff would be advantageous.
A key role of the position is to ensure program staff are delivering best practice across the elements of cli-ent work that includes client engagement at intake, assessment, partner contact, and group work.
As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnera-ble. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
Responsibilities
•Provide individual practice leadership, advice, mentoring and support to members of the Men’s Behav-iour Change Program (MBCP).
oFacilitate supervision, critical reflection and other professional development activities as required.
•Work alongside Women’s Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSSCA) who support the MBCP Wom-en’s Safety Worker and Jesuit Social Services who oversee data to deliver a MBCP that adheres to the Central Australian Minimum Standards for Men’s Behaviour Change Programs and contract require-ments.
oLiaise with relevant organisations to support men to stop their use of violence and controlling be-haviours and increase the safety of their partners/ex-partners, children, family, and community.
•Develop and implement protocols, policies, and procedures for the implementation of a MBCP in ac-cordance with the Central Australian Minimum Standards for Men’s Behaviour Change Programs and consistent with the principles outlined within service agreements.
•Ensure the MBCP is a fully integrated component of the Northern Territory Governments Northern Terri-tory’s Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Framework 2018-2028 Safe, Respected and Free from Violence.
•Develop and manage appropriate stakeholder relationships with local police, courts, and community cor-rections. This will include professional development activities to build the sectors knowledge and skills in engaging and working with men who perpetrate family violence
•Provide high quality ethical and professional judgement regarding risk and safety for women, children, and men attached to the MBCP.
oConduct risk assessments and complete risk management plans for all men engaged in the pro-gram.
•Provide high quality intake assessment, group facilitation duties for referred and voluntary clients.
oComplete intake assessments.
oCo-facilitate Men’s Behaviour Change Groups.
oMaintain up to date documentation using relevant data bases including but not limited to case notes, group attendance, court reports, data recording, Women’s Safety Worker referrals.
•Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
•Completed tertiary studies in Social Work, Welfare Studies, Psychology, or a related discipline with the capacity to mentor and support other Group Facilitators.
•Demonstrated strong program delivery skills in a family violence program.
•Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, a gendered and intersectional analysis of men's use of family and domestic violence.
•Excellent communication skills and the ability positively to engage with men who have used violence in their intimate relationships and have been mandated to attend the MBCP.
•Demonstrated experience in group work and training delivery.
•Ability to ensure the recognised Central Australian Minimum Standards for Men’s Behaviour Change programs underpins MBCP delivery.
•Demonstrated ability to perform intake, assessment, and group facilitation to a high standard.
•The ability to engage with Central Australian Aboriginal people.
•Demonstrated strong administration skills.
•Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.
Desirable
•Professional experience in Men’s Behaviour Change Programs
•Program experience working with Aboriginal Men in Central Australia.
•Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
•An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
