Job Title: Remote Contract Clinical Coder - Advanced Level Location: Remote (Australia-based candidates) Contract Type: Contract | Flexible Hours Pay Rate: High hourly rates (based on experience) About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Remote Contract Clinical Coder to join our supportive, professional team. You will work with one of Australia's leading, large, and complex hospitals, providing expert coding services across a wide range of specialties. This role is perfect for coders who enjoy working independently with the flexibility to structure their own day while earning highly competitive rates. You'll play a critical role in supporting accurate and timely clinical coding, which underpins funding, research, and reporting outcomes for the health service. Key Responsibilities: Accurately assign ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes to a diverse range of inpatient episodes across multiple specialties, including complex, high-severity cases. Meet and exceed hospital KPIs for coding timeliness and accuracy. Interpret and apply Australian Coding Standards (ACS) with a high degree of precision. Liaise with clinical teams or hospital coding auditors when clarification or further information is required. Contribute to coding quality improvement initiatives where needed. About You: Extensive clinical coding experience in a major hospital setting, with exposure to complex specialties such as ICU, oncology, surgery, cardiology, and transplant services. Minimum 2-5 years of inpatient coding experience. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS (latest editions). Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity and accuracy. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused attitude. Previous experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems (e.g., Cerner, EPIC, or similar) highly desirable.
