*St John of God Geelong Hospital* is a 253 bed hospital and is recognised as the leading provider of private health care in the Barwon and South-Western region. The hospital provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services
Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
We are seeking casual Theatre Technicians to join our supportive and dedicated team at St John of God Geelong Hospital. This role is ideal for individuals who value flexible working hours and enjoy contributing to high‑quality patient care within a dynamic, team‑focused environment. As part of a respected not‑for‑profit hospital, you'll play an important hands‑on role while enjoying the freedom and balance that comes with casual work.
In this role, you will be responsible for transporting, setting up, cleaning and maintaining theatre equipment, as well as assisting with the positioning of patients within the theatre complex. Grade 1 Theatre Technicians perform duties of a general nature under the supervision of a Grade 3 or 4 Theatre Technician or manager.
The Position
* Prepare the Operating Room for each surgical and endoscopic procedure, ensuring the necessary furniture, equipment, appliances and supplies are at hand and working efficiently.
* Carry out necessary checks on technical equipment prior to operating lists. Seek assistance as required.
* Communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels, utilising appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.
* Participate in, contribute to and implement quality improvement and risk management into all aspects of service.
* Adhere to all applicable St John of God Health Care policies and guidelines.
* Take reasonable care of themselves and others.
* Not to interfere, bypass or misuse any system or equipment provided for health, safety and welfare purposes.
You will have understanding of Legislation and standards related to OH&S, with ability to work well in a team environment and relate to others in a professional manner, and analytical teamwork skills.
To be successful, you will be customer focused with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, planning and organisational skills. Experience in the Health Care industry, preferably within a hospital setting, or Certificate III in Health Services or Operating Theatre Technician, is highly regarded.
