This is more than an accounts role. It is an opportunity to become a trusted part of a respected boutique law firm where accuracy, integrity and professionalism matter every day. We are looking for someone who takes pride in getting the details right and who understands the responsibility that comes with trust accounting.
You will work closely with our Finance Manager and legal team to ensure the financial systems of our practice operate accurately, efficiently and compliantly.
This role would suit an experienced legal accounts professional or a motivated candidate seeking to build a long-term career in legal finance within a supportive and high-performing environment.
Core Responsibilities – Legal Accounting & Finance
* Trust account receipting and payments
* Daily and monthly trust reconciliations
* Billing and invoice processing
* Bank reconciliations
* Monitoring compliance with legal profession trust accounting requirements
* Liaising with external accountants and auditors as required
* Financial reporting support
* Managing debtor balances
* General accounts administration
Practice Support & Client Interface
* Acting as part of our professional front-of-house team
* Answering and directing calls
* Welcoming clients to the office
* Supporting administrative processes across the practice
While the role includes reception involvement, the primary focus is legal accounts and financial administration.
About You

* Have experience working in a law firm

* Have exceptional attention to detail (the kind where numbers line up perfectly)
* Are highly organised and calm under pressure
* Communicate confidently and professionally in person, over the phone and by email
* Enjoy being part of a collaborative and high-performing team
* Are naturally curious (you ask why, identify issues and look for solutions)
Highly Regarded (but not essential)
* Legal trust accounting experience
* Experience with Xero and/or Smokeball
* Bookkeeping or accounting qualifications (completed or in progress)
