**Key Role Overview**
This is a highly complex and senior role within the General Insurance and Banking Division, responsible for conducting risk identification and assessment activities to achieve a prudentially sound financial system.
The division oversees the supervision of all authorised general insurers and banks, supporting APRA's core function through prudential supervision and risk assessment activities.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for:
1. Identifying risks and critical developments that may impact supervised organisations;
2. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of market issues that may influence analysis and risk assessment;
3. Developing and promoting high-quality financial analysis and supervisory skills within the team;
4. Adapting the style and process of supervision depending on the organisation's type, size, complexity, functions, and risk;
5. Assessing the quality of management, strategies, practices, and systems of supervised organisations.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
To succeed in this role, you will require:
* Substantial skills and proven capacity to manage the development and implementation of prudential regulation strategies, programs, and initiatives;
* Up-to-date knowledge of financial market trends and the legislative environment;
* Good judgement, practices, and situational awareness to identify and respond to actual or potential problems in supervised organisations;
* Ability to engage with senior executives in institutions to discuss industry and regulatory issues;
* Excellent organisational, self, and priority management skills, with experience managing small teams;
* Strong financial analysis, investigative, and research skills;
* Well-developed verbal and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills;
* Knowledge of relevant legislation;
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
